LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - The McCann Road bridge is another step closer to completion. It’s in the 100 block of McCann Road near Towne Lake Drive.

The City of Longview said Monday evening that barricades will be moved so crews can begin work on the other side of the street. Traffic will remain one lane in each direction but will be funneled to the west side of the road. There have been delays in the completion of the project, including an improper bridge deck height.

“There was an issue with the bridge deck, and there was a delay. We worked with the contractor and with TxDOT to figure out how to address that, and that’s what those approaches are doing: just making sure that the transition is seamless as you’re going to and from. And again, they’ve done it now on half of it, and they’re going to make the corrections then for the approaches on the east side moving forward,” said Longview City Spokesman Richard Yeakley.

The bridge will be closed while barricades are moved but will be open to traffic by Tuesday morning. The city said if there are no more delays the bridge should be open in April.
