KILGORE, Texas (KLTV) - A Kilgore restaurant plans on reopening after its roof was blown off in a storm.

Brigitta’s Hungarian Restaurant in the 200 block of Highway 31 in Kilgore had to shut down last Friday for repairs. Owner Michael Chubboy said the roof was replaced Wednesday before it rained, but repairs continue inside the restaurant as the ceiling sustained water damage.

“We’ll get this side finished, painted, cleaned, sanitized. Then move everything back over. Then we have to do that side, and we’re working with the city. The City of Kilgore; great,” Chubboy said.

Chubboy said if all goes well, they will be able to reopen next Friday. He also said he’s had to turn away many potential customers who showed up to eat. He said they have been receiving many well-wishes from Budapest, Hungary, thanks to a story a television station there ran about Brigitta’s about a year ago.

KLTV’s Jamey Boyum talks with Brigitta’s Hungarian Restaurant Owner Michael Chubboy to see how repairs are progressing after a storm tore off part of the roof.
