Bricks and Minifigs LEGO store to open Tyler location in June
TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - A new store that specializes in all things LEGO is coming to Tyler on June 17.
The store is called Bricks and Minifigs, located in the Times Square Shopping Center. The store offers a place to buy, sell, and trade the popular toys.
Owners Scott and Jennifer Stewart moved from Memphis to Tyler about two years ago. Jennifer said they would always go to the store in Memphis and when making the move they wanted to carry the fun over.
“I feel like there’s a little bit of a vacuum for something like this and especially as it’s going to start getting hotter, you know alternatives to splash pads and stuff like that.” said Scott.
Jennifer added, “I think it’s just a fun family thing to do with your kids and even not with your kids, just for you.”
Scott says the analog toy is still loved by children despite the digital world we live in. “I think it’s a good alternative to digital, sort of educational and lifestyle it’s stem-related, engineering, it’s tactile, you can touch it and feel it and build it.”
And not just for kids. The nostalgia of building the bricks together can be for all ages.
“As kids you love Lego and then inside the industry it’s like the dead period where you shun Legos for the cool things in life I guess. And like you said the nostalgia of it where they’ll want to rekindle their childhood love for it and it’ll carry you all the way through adulthood.” said Scott.
At the June 17th grand opening, they will be giving away custom mini figures and two Legos sets in a door prize drawing.
